Incentives


For the purpose of this Section, a resident is defined as a registered Mi’gmaq, residing in the community of Listuguj [Section 3 (a) (i)]. In recognition of graduation/academic achievement the community may, subject to budgetary allocations, award incentives to Level I,II,III students who have successfully completed their post secondary program within the prescribed number of years. Prescribed number of years means that in the case of an Undergraduate degree, a student will require (4) academic years or eight (8) semesters. The prescribed number of years does not include inter-session or summer-session.
  1. For Level I enrollment, College program students are eligible to receive a graduation achievement incentive.
  2. For Level II enrollment, Undergraduate degree program, students are eligible to receive an achievement incentive based on academic performance; and students enrolled in an additional Bachelor degree program are eligible for the same if they did not receive the incentive for their first Undergraduate degree program.
  3. For Level III enrollment, Master or Doctoral degree program, and students are eligible to receive a graduation achievement incentive.
  4. Students do not have to apply for these incentives, as they will be calculated and awarded automatically based on transcripts provided by the student to the Post Secondary Education Manager.
  5. The incentives for Level I, II & III will be awarded upon successful completion of the post secondary programs within the prescribed period of time and will be based on the following formula:
