Listuguj Education Community Program
The Accelerated Second Language Acquisition Method was developed by Dr. Steven Greymorning. This method of teaching language involves using pictures instead of the written word. Sentences are developed orally and the students hear the correct pronunciation first by the teacher and then by the students in the group. This new method has generated a lot of excitement because they are learning many new words and phrases in a short period of time. As more sets are being utilized, new sentences and ideas are combined with what has already been learned. The students are always reviewing and not forgetting what was taught to them at the very beginning.
The teachers involved in this pilot project are: Theresa Mitchell, Mary Ann Metallic, Mabel Metallic and Eunice Metallic; between them there is approximately 100 students learning the Mi’gmaw Language using this method on a daily bases.
For more information regarding Accelerated Second Language Acquisition Method or if your interested in taking classes, please contact Joe Wilmot at 788.2248.
